Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

GentleObit respects your control over personal information and memorial content. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and how you can manage or delete it.

Information we collect

When you register or use GentleObit, we may collect your name, email address, password hash, session information, and the memorial information you choose to submit. This may include a person's name, dates, relationships, life experiences, and memories.

How we use information

We use this information to provide sign-in, save drafts, generate bilingual memorial writing, record credit activity, process payments, and respond to support requests. Materials submitted for generation may be processed by OpenAI. We do not sell memorial content or use it for advertising profiles.

Third-party services

GentleObit uses infrastructure providers including PostgreSQL, Cloudflare, OpenAI, and Stripe. Stripe handles payments; GentleObit does not store complete card numbers. We may retain the Stripe identifiers needed to confirm orders and handle refunds.

Storage, deletion, and security

You can delete your account from Settings. Account data, memorial writing, and credit records are handled according to our deletion rules; legal or financial records may need to be retained. We use reasonable access controls, encrypted transport, and database security measures.

Memorial pages and sharing

Memorial pages are private by default. You may keep a page private, share it with a link, or choose to publish it. Before publishing photos or personal details, make sure you have permission from the relevant family members or rights holders.
